Wild Boar on the Loose in Downtown Houston!
Residents of downtown Houston were in for a surprise this week when a wild boar was spotted running loose in the streets! The boar was first seen on Tuesday morning, and animal control officials were quickly called to try and capture the animal. However, the boar was too quick for them and managed to evade capture. Several residents reported seeing the boar near City Hall and Memorial Park, and videos of the boar running through the streets went viral on social media.
The wild boar is believed to be around 100 pounds and is considered to be a dangerous animal. Officials believe that it may have escaped from a local farm or hunting preserve, and they are warning people to stay away from it. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department spokesman Steve Lightfoot said, "This is not a Mickey Mouse piggy. This is a big animal with sharp tusks."
Despite the warnings, some residents have been attempting to capture the boar themselves. One man even used his car to try and corner the animal, but it managed to escape again. Animal control officials say that they will continue to try and catch the boar, but they warn that it may be difficult because the animal is likely scared and could become aggressive if cornered.
Boars Terrorize Farmers as Prey Numbers Swell
The wild boar population has exploded in recent years, to the detriment of local farmers. The omnivorous animals have increasingly been raiding crops and terrorizing people in the process.
Boars are not the timid creatures they are often made out to be. They can weigh up to 400 pounds, and their tusks can do a lot of damage. Farmers have taken to arming themselves when going out into their fields, but even that hasn't been enough to deter the boars.
One farmer recounted how a boar had chased her daughter across a field. "They're huge and aggressive," she said. "It's only a matter of time before someone gets hurt."
Authorities have issued warnings to people living in areas frequented by boars, advising them to take precautions when travelling outside at night and be especially vigilant when walking around farms and woodland areas.
Boars are not native to North America, but they have been making their way north from Mexico for some time now. It is unclear why their numbers have exploded in recent years, but it is thought that changes in climate may be playing a role.
Judgement Day: Wild Boars Threaten to Wipe Out Human Race
A species of wild boar is threatening to wipe out the human race, according to a recent study.
The study, published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, found that the wild boars are evolving to become bigger and more aggressive, and could soon outnumber humans.
The researchers analyzed data from wild boars in Europe and Asia and found that they have been growing in size and becoming more aggressive over the past few decades. They warned that if this trend continues, the wild boars will eventually outnumber humans, leading to the extinction of our species.
"Our data show that these animals are evolving in size and becoming more aggressive," said study author Juha Hyenanen of the University of Tampere in Finland. "If this trend continues, we could soon see these animals outnumbering us, which would lead to the extinction of our species."
Wild boars are already known for their aggression, and have been known to attack people and livestock. They are also capable of killing larger animals, such as deer and sheep.
In light of these findings, experts are urging countries around the world to take action to prevent the wild boars from overtaking human populations. This could include implementing bans on hunting them or culling their numbers.
Some experts are also calling for a global effort to research ways to control or eradicate the wild boars before it's too late.
Obama Announces Plans to Deport All Boars
United States President Barack Obama announced today that he plans to deport all boars from the country.
"I am tired of these unruly boars running around our streets, disrupting our daily lives," Obama said in a press conference from the White House. "It's time we take action and get them out of our country."
The plan calls for the Department of Homeland Security to work with local law enforcement agencies to track down and deport all boars within the next six months.
"We will not rest until every last boar is gone," Obama said. "And I promise you, they will be gone."
Republicans have already come out against the plan, calling it a "waste of taxpayer money".
"This is just another example of Obama's failed policies," said House Speaker Paul Ryan. "He can't even keep track of all the boars in this country, let alone deport them."
Democratic leaders have voiced their support for the plan, calling it a "necessary step" in keeping America safe.
"Boars are a serious threat to our safety and security," said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. "We need to take action now before they cause any more damage."
Hero Farmer Tries to Scare Away Rampaging Boars With His Shotgun
Bria, Michigan - Early one morning, farmer Gary Thomas was awakened by a loud crash. He slowly got out of bed, grabbing his shotgun on the way, to investigate. What he found was four large boars wreaking havoc in his cornfield.
The farmer attempted to scare the animals away with his shotgun, but they only grew more agitated. Thomas then decided to take a more direct approach. He ran towards the boars while firing his shotgun, and was able to scare them off.
"I've been farming for 35 years and have never seen anything like this," said Thomas. "I'm just glad I had my shotgun with me."
